Farmers in large numbers protesting since 3 days lost their patience and tried to break the police cordon to enter the IOCL Paradip Refinery on Monday. The farmers of the group ‘Jamihara Krushak Ekta Manch’ have been staging demonstrations for permanent jobs.

The protest got ugly after police tried to disperse the raging demonstrators following Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s visit to the IOCL refinery, a day after.

As per reports, around 1500 farmers from the 1752 families of the Jamihara Manch group ran down towards the police. Nearly, 4 platoons of police force were required to stop the barge. The farmers used children and women in the protests as shield to overcome the police force.

Around 100 farmers have been detained in the incident.
