First-ever Postal ATM service in Odisha, Launched at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack GPOs

The India Post has launched the first-ever ATM services in Odisha for its savings account holders to woo more customers and stop the slide of struggling postal services.

The Postal ATMs were launched at the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack General Post Offices (GPOs) yesterday.

Chief Post Master General Tilak Dey inaugurated the Postal ATM services at the PMG Office in Bhubaneswar. The service will be extended to Puri, Rourkela and Sambalpur in the next phase. Odisha will have 39 ATMs by the end of March 31, 2016.

In Odisha, 1.15 people have postal accounts. In Bhubaneswar alone, the figure stands at 13 lakh. Only customers having postal savings accounts, can avail this opportunity. Customers having more than Rs 5,000 in their account, can apply for a postal ATM card. The daily maximum withdrawal limit has been capped at Rs 40,000 a day.
