Bhubaneswar:Rain fury continued across Odisha causing flash floods. Heavy rains led to swelling of two major rivers causing flash floods in Rayagada and Kalahandi, prompting the state government to seek help of defence forces. Several areas of Rayagada and Kalahandi district are severely affected by the floods caused by incessant rain for last two days. Two bridges had been washed away by flood waters causing disruption of road connectivity, while a railway bridge was also damaged disrupting train services. A road link between Rayagada and Bhawanipatna has been snapped as flood water has inundated a major road.
The MeT department has warned of heavy to very heavy rain in several parts of the state due to a low pressure over Bay of Bengal. The state capital Bhubaneswar is also witnessing severe rainfall and several parts of the city area is water logged and low lying areas are inundated. The situation of Cuttack city is more precarious than Bhubaneswar. The Cuttack Municipal Corporation has engaged 85 pumps to drain out water from water logged areas in the city due to incessant rain.
