Man Throws Acid On Mother-In-law, Baby Girl In Jagatsinghpur


Jagatsinghpur: In a blood chilling incident, a person allegedly threw acid on his mother-in-law and 14-month-old baby girl enraged over a family feud at Bhaliapatna village under Tirtol police station limits in the district on the night of March 9.

The woman and the baby were rushed to the Manijanga community health centre(CHC) in a critical condition and were later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their condition became critical.

Reports suggested that one Swarnalata Samal, married to one Manas Ranjan Swain of Puri district was staying at Bhaliapatna with her mother and daughter after a dispute with her husband.

The accused Manas Swain was interested to bring back his wife and daughter and had visited her multiple times. However, her mother Shantilata Samal, mother-in-law of Manas Swain, was unwilling to allow the duo to go with him.

On the fateful night, Manas Swain came to the village with a bottle containing acid and threw it on her mother-in-law Shantilata Samal and the daughter and fled the spot.

The police have started investigation into the acid attack incident.
