Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to lash several as many as nine southern and northern districts of Odisha in the next couple of days.
“Very heavy rain is expected in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Ganjam in next 48 hours due to a cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal,” a bulletin of the Regional Meteorological office said.
Likewise, another system is likely to form on September 1 and continue to be stationary up to September 5. The system may cause continuous heavy rainfall in north Odisha river catchments from September 2 to September 5.
“Strong and gusty surface wind speed with a maximum speed of varying between 35-45 kmph is likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast,” it said.
The fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea.
