Balangir: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a number of welfare projects during his one-day visit to Balangir district toady.
The inaugural show of the Chief Minister commenced with the inauguration of a drinking water project near the Circuit House in the disdtrict headquarter town. The project is aimed at catering to the needs of the people and solve problem of drinking water supply.
“I am very glad to have inaugurated the water project which will provide water for Balangir town,” said the Chief Minister after inaugurating the project.
Naveen Patnaik also dedicated a 125-bedded Maternal and Childcare Hospital (MCH) in the premises of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) to the people of the district and its neighbouring areas.
A high level bridge over Madhiapalli canal and a new building of Balangir Government College were other projects inaugurated by the Chief Minister today.
The Chief Minister also laid foundation stones for a high level bridge over Ong river on Losinga- Bharasuja route and another bridge near Pandel. Later, he addressed the public at Koshal Kala Mandal venue before returning to Bhubaneswar.
Leader of Opposition and local MLA Narasingha Mishra, Industries and Urban Development Minster Niranjan Pujari, Food & Civil Supplies Minister Surjya Narayan Patro, Balangir MP Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo and Rajya Sabha MP A U Singh Deo along with other local leaders were present during the inaugural ceremonies.
Heavy police bandobust were made in view of the Chief Minister’s one-day tour. Around 40 Congress and BJP workers and local leaders were detained by the district police to prevent any untoward incident.
