Former Paralekhmundi king Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deo passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar in the morning around 4 AM on Friday.
The former king ‘Gajapati Maharaj’ died due to heart ailments. He was 76.
The former Paralekhmundi king was a two-time Congress MP from Berhampur. He moved to BJP in 1998 and later in 2009 he joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Gajapati Maharaj has been suffering from heart complications since last 3 years.
The Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his grief over the former king’s loss.
The people of the Paralekhmundi town have been saddened by the incident and messages have been pouring from all over the state for the former Paralekhmundi king’s loss.
