PK Mohapatra Replaces PK Jena As Chief Administrator of Jagannath Temple

Bhubaneswar: In a sudden development likely to tackle the controversy raised over the missing key of the Ratna Bhandar(Store house) of the Jagannat temple at Puri, the state government has given additional charge of chief administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, principal secretary of School and Mass Education department, replacing Pradeep Kumar Jena.

P K Mohapatra had earlier also served as the chief administrator of Puri Jagannath temple.

The appointment of PK Mohapatra as the chief administrator came at a time when the controversy over missing Ratna Bhandar keys and alleged mismanagement and harassment of devotees at Jagannath temple have surcharged the political atmosphere in the state.

The Supreme Court has recently passed a slew of directions and asked the district court in Puri to probe the alleged mismanagement at the 12th-century temple.
