Cuttack: The Ravenshaw University authorities today expelled two students from their respective hostels for the rest of the current academic session in connection with a ragging incident in July last.

The expelled students, Akash Patnaik and Subhrajit Roy were also asked to deposit Rs 5000 each within seven days as fine.

The two students have been asked to leave the Lalitgiri Hostel with immediate effect. However, they could continue their studies by staying outside the university campus.

The development came in accordance with the policy of zero tolerance on ragging in the University, said the Ravenshaw authorities.

In July 2017, a +2 second year student, Biswajit Mohanty was ragged and beaten up badly by a group of students led by Subhrajit and Akash near the Lalitgiri Hostel in the university campus.
