Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMSAR) Director Dr.Ashwini Kumar Pujahari was sent on leave for unethical practices.He is courting controversy for the use of salt as remedy to treat cancer patients.
A report has been prepared by the institution committee. Acting on the report, the Health department has issued a show cause notice to Pujahari and sought his response within three days. For the time, he is out on a leave.
A police complaint had already been lodged by the Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA) for Pujahari’s experimental practices. The Junior Doctors had been protesting for Dr.Pujahari’s removal from November 17.
Additional Health Secretary, Sarat Mishra presided a meeting with the institution’s committee on this incident on December 6. Mishra had forwarded the conclusive findings to the government.
Pujahari had earlier withdrawn himself from his surgical practices by forwarding a letter to the surgery HOD of VIMSAR.
