Cuttack: In a big blow to Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Prabhat Biswal accused in the Seashore chit fund case, the Orissa High Court today rejected his bail plea and directed the CBI to complete the investigation within two months and submit the final report to the court.
The court also made it clear that the BJD MLA Prabhat Biswal could apply for bail in lower court only after the submission of the CBI investigation report.
The legislator who is currently under treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to failing health is under scanner by the investigating agency for his alleged involvement with Seashore Group CMD Prashant Dash in a land deal. The deal was made between the law-maker’ wife Bilasini Biswal and Prashant Dash for a plot of land located at Benapur in Jajpur district.
Prabhat Biswal had moved a bail application in the Orissa High Court on October 3 after being arrested by CBI on September 19. In his bail plea the legislator had stated that the case in which he had been arrested was actually against his wife.
The Choudwar-Cuttack MLA was under CBI remand for around four days till he complained of sickness and was rushed to Capital Hospital on September 22. He was later shifted to SCB Medical on September 25 as his condition further deteriorated in the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
