Cuttack: The deadly H1N1 virus has claimed yet another life in Odisha taking the toll in swine flu disease this year to 9 today. The death occurred at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack today morning.
The deceased, hailing from Salepur tehsil under Cuttack district, was admitted to the hospital on August 9.
According to reports, the deceased’s family members alleged that medical negligence led to the death as the ventilator tripped due to sudden power cut.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Pramod Kumar Meherda had on August 11 inspected the 40-bed isolation ward of the hospital opened for the treatment of swine flu patients.
Meanwhile, the Health Department has allocated Rs 3 crore for procurement of necessary equipments like ventilators, monitors, ICU beds, suction machines among others.
