Wild Tusker Kills 5 in Two Villages in Angul


A wild tusker sneaked into two villages of Angul and 5 people have been killed after being attacked by the strayed animal in the late hours of April 18 night.

Four people have been reported killed at the Sanda village and one person dead at the Santhapada village.

As per the incident, the wild elephant entered the Sanda village and attacked 3 members of a family along with one woman from the same village during the late hours.

The deceased have been identified as father and his two daughters and another middle aged woman.

Similarly, the wild animal entered the neighbouring Santhapada village and trampled an old man in his seventies.

The incident has provoked the residents and they have demanded compensation for the family of the deceased.

The forest officials and the Talcher police have rushed to the spot and took examination of the incident.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, too, expressed grief over the ill-fated incident.
