Bhubaneswar: Jumbo menace continues to create panic in the state as a wild tusker strayed into Jayadev Vatika here late on February 15 night triggering panic among the residents in Khandagiri area located on the outskirts of state capital.
As per reports, it is the same elephant that had earlier strayed into OUAT’s horticulture farm at Ghatikia here and wreaked havoc by damaging properties on February 14.
Sources said that the wild elephant entered Jayadev Vatika after being hounded out by the forest officials when they were attempting to drive it away from the horticulture farm on Februarfy 16.
Meanwhile, the Jayadev Vatika authorities and forest officials have closed the park for visitors as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident. A massive drive is being undertaken by the forest officials to drive the elephant back into the Chandaka forests.
