Puri: Kumbharapada police on Friday captured a man for allegedly identifying so as to hoodwink lakhs of rupees himself as a CBI official.
The accused has been identified as Rashmi Ranjan Das.
According to sources, Das has duped people worth lakhs of rupees after promising them jobs and helping them with some works at the tehsildar office by identifying himself as a CBI or Crime Branch official.
Besides, he also set up a trust and collected money through it. Das also collected money from locals in the name giving admission to their kids at DPS International School, the locals alleged adding that Das had opened an office for providing admission without any valid license.
Police has started an investigation into the matter.
