Proteas skipper AB De Villiers will be battling with Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara for the top slot of the ICC One Day ranking when South Africa will meet Sri Lanka in the first Quarter Final of the world cup, scheduled on Wednesday.
South African swashbuckling skipper De Villiers began the year leading Sangakkara by 76 ratings points, but will only be leading by 38 points when the two players’ sides take on each other on Wednesday.
Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Sangakkara, who has been in scintillating form after becoming the first batsman to score four centuries in a row in the tournament, gained three places to sit at second spot with 861 points, Sport24 reported. Meanwhile,Hashim Amla of South Africa and Indian star Virat Kohli aren’t too far behind the top two.
Amla is third with 14 points behind Sangakkara, Kohli is fourth, trailing four points behind the South African opener.
