Cricketer Harbhajan Singh Pitches: India to Not Play Pakistan in World Cup 2019 amid Pulwama Attacks

The recent killing of 44 dead CRPF personnel in Pulwama attacks has drawn cricketer Harbhajan Singh ire who quoted the Indian team to not play Pakistan in the upcoming 2019 Cricket World Cup in England.

Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said, “India are powerful enough to win the World Cup without having to play Pakistan.”

He added, “This is a difficult time. The attack has happened, it was unbelievable and it was very wrong. Strict action will surely be taken by the Indian government. When it comes to cricket, I don’t think we should have any relations with them otherwise they will keep treating us like this.”

The turbantor rued on the 44 martyred CRPF soldiers that, be it cricket or hockey or sports or any relations, everything should be kept aside and now it is the time to stand for your own country.

He said, “We should keep no relations with Pakistan or play any cricket with them. Country comes first and we should stand with our country.

Singh stressed on ample time available to take a decision on the World Cup fixture.

He said, “What happens if we have to play Pakistan in the semi final or final?”

The off-spinner said, “What happened in Pulwama is tragic. We are safe today only because of our defence forces.”

He finally added, “We are powerful enough to feed the world on our own. Cricket, sports is not important. We stand with every member of defence force. Their sacrifices shouldn’t go waste.”
