Bhubaneswar: Dependable England midfielder Adam Dixon has asked his teammates especially the attackers to be watchful of two young Indian defenders, both of them from Odisha, Dipsan Tirkey and Amit Rohidas when the two sides clash in a Hockey World League match on next Sunday.
Notably, the 28-year-old England international player Adam Dixon played alongside the two Odisha defenders at Kalinga Lancers, which won the Hockey India League (HIL) title in 2017.
“I’ve played with Dipsan and Amit in Kalinga Lancers team and I am definitely telling my team to watch out for these two guys. They are extremely good and rock-solid at the backline,” Adam Dixon said in a release today.
Amit Rohidas rode on his superlative performances in the HIL to make a comeback to the national side, while Dipsan Tirkey impressed the selectors during the Junior World Cup 2016 as he partnered with Harmanpreet Singh in the backline.
Vice-captain Dipsan Tirkey played a stellar role in India’s Junior World Cup-winning run in Lucknow.
“I worked with them closely during our Hockey India League days and they contributed tremendously to our title win. I am extremely eager to play against the duo in the HWL tournament,” said Adam Dixon, who has so far represented England in 205 international matches.
