Former Indian Cricketer Jacob Martin Receives BCCI Aid, Sourav Ganguly Chips In Too

Former Indian ODI player Jacob Martin is recuperating from his injuries in hospital after a fatal accident on December 28 last year.

As per reports, he has received extensive damage to his liver and lungs and his wife had approached BCCI (Board of Cricket for Control for India) to meet his medical expenses.

The BCCI quickly dispensed 5 lakh rupees for the ex-cricketer’s treatment.

Former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly too extended his help and said, “Martin and I have been teammates and I remember him as a quiet, introvert type of person. While praying for Martin’s speedy recovery, I would like his family to know that they don’t stand alone.”

Martin made his debut and played under Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy.

It has come to the fore that BCCI had first cleared over 11 lakh rupees dues of the hospital bill.

Martin who played from Baroda Ranji team had support extended from the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) too.

Former BCCI and Baroda Cricket Association member Sanjay Patel said, “The BCA has handed over Rs. 2.70 lakh only today but more is expected of them. After all, it was under his captaincy that Baroda won the Ranji trophy. Recently, the association had handed over Rs 22 lakhs to the widow of a former Ranji Trophy player.”
