Kings XI Punjab has won the toss and opted to field first as Rajasthan Royals already have a shock with skipper Shane Watson is not playing today due to hip problem while Steve Smith is captaining the side.
After winning the toss, KXIP skipper George Bailey said, “The boys have got together from all parts of the world. Everyone’s played a lot of cricket, so we should be ready to go. Most of the teams did retain most of their squads. We are very happy with their squad. We will bowl first. The wicket normally plays very good throughout, probably there will be a bit of dew later on. Hopefully the grass means it will be a high-scoring game. Maxi, Miller, myself and Johnson are the four overseas players.”
Meanwhile RR’s stand-in skipper Steve Smith said, “He (Watson) has got a bit of bruised hip, hopefully he’ll be ready for the next one. We’ve got a good squad together, hopefully it will be a good season for the Royals. He (Maxwell) is in terrific form, he’s a hard batter to stop as well. Hopefully we can get him early tonight. There is little bit of grass on this wicket, not too sure how it will play. The other three (foreigners) are Faulkner, Morris and Southee.”
