After losing captaincy to Rohit Rajpal before the venue for the Davis Cup tie against Pakistan got shifted, India’s badminton veteran player Mahesh Bhupati tweeted on the indifference shown by the All India Tennis Association (AITA) Secretary General on Wednesday.
Bhupati in his tweet wrote, “To everyone so concerned for my thoughts and comments. All I know is from a phone call with Mr.Chaterjee on Monday where I was told that Rohit is replacing me as Captain because I wasn’t comfortable going to Pakistan (love the country been there before – not this time).”
Also, players like Rohan Bopanna, too, shared similar views against AITA for not consulting players before changing the captain.
Bhupati in another tweet added, “I have not heard from the AITA since Monday or after the ITF addressed the players concerns on venue and approved a neutral location – so I am available and believe in am still captain unless I hear otherwise! Glad to “comment” when I know what I know.”
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has changed the venue of Group 1 Asia/Oceanic India-Pakistan Davis Cup tie from Islamabad to which India has raised its voice.
