Former India T20 International captain Mithali Raj announced her retirement from the T20 international cricket on Tuesday.
The current ODI captain wants to further her cricketing career in the One Day International (ODI) game and has set sights on the 2021 Women’s World Cup.
The 36-year old Mithali Raj said, “After representing India in T20 Internationals since 2006, I wish to retire from T20Is to focus my energies on reading myself for the 2021 One Day World Cup. It remains my dream to win a World Cup for my country and I want to give it my best.”
She also said, “I thank the BCCI for their continuous support and wish the Indian T20 team good luck as they prepare for the home series against South Africa Women.”
Raj is the top scorer among the Indian players in the T20 International format and has amassed 2364 runs from 89 matches at an average of 37.5.
