Ghaziabad, (PTI) Olympian Pargat Singh said the Narendra Modi government should bring sports bill to dig out talent from far flung areas could and also increase the budget spending on sports.
The Arjun awardee and Padam Shree former hockey player demanded audit of funds allotted to the sports authorities.
“Sports budget in our country is less.India must enhance its sports budget to the tunes of China. Due to this reason talented players are not coming out,” Singh told reporters.
He said that hockey legend Dhyan Chand was a deserving candidate for Bharat Ratna but “no government cared for it”.
He had won gold medal in Olympics when the country was under British dominion, he added.
On the youths of Punjab, he said that a large number of them have become drug addicts and physically unfit so they are unable to join the Army.
“Youths must socialise so that adopt the right path for their betterment,” he said.
