Two girls from Odisha have brought laurels to the country in their respective fields. International Chess Master Padmini Rout and Odisha Swimmer Pratyasa Ray have earned gold and silver medal today.
The Asian Continental Chess Championship held at Makati in Phillipines was triumphed by Padmini Rout. Padmini scored 7 points out of 9 games. In turn, she has qualified for the Women’s World Chess Championship 2020.
On similar lines, the 64th National School Games Swimming Championships was held at Talkotra stadium in Delhi. Swimmer Pratyasa Ray came second in Under 17 girl’s category in 200 metres backstroke event. She finished the race logging 2.34:79.
She is due to race in 100 and 50 metres event on December 18 and 19 respectively.
