Virat Kohli creates history by winning the three coveted trophies in a calendar year. The Indian captain has also been entitled with captain of ICC Test and ODI teams of the year 2018.
International Cricket Council awarded Indian captain Virat Kohli with Sir Garfield Sobers trophy for ICC Test Cricketer of the year, ICC ODI Cricketer of the year and ICC T20 player of the year for 2018 on Tuesday.
In 2018, Kohli has amassed 1322 runs in 13 tests at an average 55.08. In 14 ODIs that he played this year, Kohli accumulated 1202 runs with a jaw dropping average of 133.5. In 10 T20s, he has scored 211 runs.
A total of 11 centuries (5 in Tests and 6 in ODIs) and 9 fifties have been scored by Kohli in 2018.
Kohli, on receiving this honour said, “It’s a reward for all the hardwork that you do throughout the calendar year. Having recognition at the global level from the ICC is something you feel proud of as a cricketer because you understand that there are many players playing the game.”
He added, “Obviously, a very proud moment for me and something that gives you more motivation to keep repeating the same things because you have to keep the standard of cricket up and keep bringing in consistent performances.”
ICC also honoured Rishabh Pant as the Emerging Player of the Year in 2018.
