Apple’s iPhone 5s is now retailing for half the launch price in India, starting at Rs 22,000. This price is for the space grey model. The 16 GB silver variant is available for Rs 27,000.
According to the sources, the Apple iPhone 5s is available at a market operating price (MOP) of Rs. 22,500. The smartphone can be purchased for even lower at some retail outlets.
Currently, the iPhone 5s 16GB is available at as low as Rs. 21,948 on Flipkart; both Amazon India and Snapdeal are offering it at Rs. 21,499; while Infibeam (the only authorised online retail partner of Apple) is selling it at Rs. 21,899.
Back in September, the iPhone 5s received its first price cut post the launch of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and was made available at Rs. 35,000 for the 16GB variant, with the 32GB model priced at Rs. 40,000. To recall, the iPhone 5s 16GB price went down to Rs. 26,990 at an online retailer in September.
With the latest price cut, the iPhone 5s price in India is probably amongst the lowest in the world. In the US, an unlocked iPhone 5s is still $450 (approximately Rs. 30,000).
Notably, the company has not announced any further price cuts on last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models. Both the phones received a price cut in September.
