Assault on Bahinipati’s relatives: Police interrogate five accused


Bhubaneswar, May 22: Police have taken on remand the five accused, who recently surrendered before the court in connection with the April 10 brutal assault on Congress leader Tara Prasad Bahinipati’s brother and nephew in a hotel in Jeypore town.

The five were interrogated by a special police team led by Additional SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra on Wednesday. The five youths who surrendered before the court were Hrudananda Nayak, Sabyasachi Parida, Sanjay Suna, Chiranjibi Patnaik and Rajendra Sahu. The accused were being interrogated separately, police sources said.

Earlier, on April 10 night after the first phase of polls in Odisha, a group of seven youths, alleged to be BJD supporters had launched a brutal attack on newly elected Congress MLA Tara Bahinipati’s brother Tuna Bahinipati and nephew Gupta Prasad Mohapatra at Hotel Madhumati in Jeypore town.
