Bhubaneswar: Instead of October 14 one-day international match between India and West Indies, Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, would host a Twenty20 match between the two sides on October 22, informed Odisha Cricket Association secretary Ashirbad Behera on Wednesday.
The BCCI has intimated the change in schedule and accordingly Barabati would now hold the T20 match on October 22 instead of the earlier scheduled ODI on October 14, Behera added.
He further stated that despite incessant monsoon rains, month-long FAO Football League and the Independence Day celebrations at the venue last month, the ground is still in fine conditions to host the international match in October. Already the OCA had started preparations have begun to host the India-WI ODI, so there would be absolutely no problem in organising the T20 tie on October 22, the OCA secretary stated.
Considering that the India-Australia ODI on October 26, 2013 was abandoned without a single ball being bowled, is the OCA apprehensive that weather gods would spoil yet another international match at Barabati in October this time too, Behera stated the association certainly has no control over weather conditions. However, he further stated that the OCA as in the past would leave no stones unturned from preparation point of view and would hope that the match is not affected due to inclement weather.
