Coal blocks cancellation unfortunate: Minister


Bhubaneswar:  State steel and mines minister Rajanikanta Singh on Tuesday termed the Centre’s decision to cancel coal blocks allocated to Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) and Tatas for their coal to liquid (CTL) projects in Odisha, as ‘unfortunate’.

The Union Coal Ministry in a letter on Monday, reportedly cancelled 10 coal blocks allocated to 18 companies including Adani Power, JSPL, Rungta Mines and a joint venture between Tata and South African Sasol. The decision was taken on the recommendations of an inter-ministerial group (IMG), sources informed.
