Cuttack: The Odisha High Court today rejects the interim protection plea of Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL) chief Mahimananda Mishra in connection with the murder of Seaways Group GM Mahendra Swain at Paradip.
The court also dismissed his four associates protection plea from arrest in the connection. Besides, it asked the Jagatsinghpur police to submit case dairy.
Notably, miscreants had opened fire at Swain near the Ambedkar Bhawan at Madhuban Colony in Paradip on October 26. After the murder, Swain’s family members had alleged that it was a pre-planned attack on him. Since SSL was also involved in stevedoring and had bagged a contract from the Jindal Steel and Powers Limited (JSPL) to which OSL had objected, OSL wanted to minimise the presence of SSL in Paradip.
