EVM trouble: Presiding officer suspended in Bargarh district

Bhubaneswar:  A presiding officer in Bargarh district was suspended on Saturday for dereliction of lection duty during the first phase polls in state on April 10.

The concerned presiding officer of Booth No 27 under Bijepur Assembly constituency and Bargarh LS seat was suspended by district collector Anjan Kumar Manik, for faulty handling of the electronic voting machines (EVMs) during polls, sources said.

This is the first instance during the ensuing 2014 twin polls in state, when a presiding officer has been suspended for not handling the EVMs in a proper way, sources added.
