HC Bench row: Partial response to W Odisha bandh call

Bhubaneswar:  With some of the lawyers’ associations not joining the 12-hour bandh call given by Central Action Committee (CAC) of All Western Odisha Bar Association (AWOBA), the bandh on Wednesday was a partial success, revealed ground zero reports.

While the bandh was almost cent per cent in Sambalpur, lawyers in Bolangir town did not support the bandh call by the CAC. Instead they continued their cease-work movement demanding that the Oriossa High Court Bench be set up in their city only.

But in Sambalpur and in some other Western Odisha towns like Rourkela and Deogarh, the road traffic was very thin. Agitating lawyers also forced detention of Sambalpur-Puri Intercity and Sambalpur-Rayagada Express trains in Khetrajpur station. However emergency services like medical, water and electricity were exempted from the bandh.
