High Court concerned over Jagannath Temple security


Bhubaneswar: Orissa High Court has expressed concern over security of world famous Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri.

Expressing grave concern over the security threat to the shrine, the court asked the Temple administration and the district administration to clear all encroachments within 10 feet of the four entrance gates of the temple.

This apart, the court also directed the temple administration to take immediate steps to clear the encroachments around the temple.

The court also directed the Temple Administration to vacate the Pratihari Nijog Office located near the Singhadwar (main entrance gate) of the temple within two weeks.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in its affidavit filed in the Odisha High Court on Thursday  informed that the ongoing repair work of the Sri Jagannath temple in Puri would be completed by May 31 this year.
