Mining scam in Odisha: CEC report likely in July last week

Bhubaneswar: The two-member central empowered committee (CEC) on mining appointed by the Supreme Court, which interacted with Odisha government officials and mine owners during its two-day visit to the state on Monday andTuesday, is likely to submit its report between July 25 and 30, sources said.

The CEC team NK Jiwarika and Madan Mohan Vyas, after meeting state government officials also held integrations with leaseholders of mines. The team also reviewed the 26 mines, which were closed temporarily following the directive of Supreme Court in April this year.

However, some mines owners were reportedly communicated by the CEC team to be ready for some unpleasant surprises when it submits its final report to the court by July end, which has panicked the mines owners, sources added.
