Missing issue: Congress MP to sit on hunger strike

Bhubaneswar:  Congress MP Pradeep Majhi is all set to seat on a hunger strike in front of Raj Bhawan, here from Friday, demanding immediate trace out of a missing tribal youth Trinath Samartha, who mysteriously vanished from police custody in Malkangiri a few months back.

Majhi has already staged a dharna in the capital and submitted a memorandum to the Governor S C Jamir on Wednesday demanding his immediate intervention to trace out the youth. Majhi alleged that Malkangiri SDPO had a hand in Samartha’s missing  after he was arrested on theft charges in April 2013.

“There has been no news about him. He has neither been produced before the court, nor released from police custody or reached home,” rued Majhi.

Earlier, a Congress committee led by former minister Ganeswar Behera visited Malkangiri and found out that Samartha was beaten up by police and is suspected to have died in police custody, Majhi added
