Mother Buries Newborn Child In Cow Dung Pit In Mayurbhanj

Udala: In a tragic incident, a woman allegedly buried her newborn son in a cow dung pit at Dhipasahi village under Sarata police station limits in Mayurbhanj district.

The police this morning recovered the body of the newborn from the pit. However, the police are yet to ascertain the reason why the woman identified as Masuri Singh dumped the newborn in the pit.

The police said that Masuri had delivered the boy at her paternal home at Dhipasahi village on june 21. Claiming that the boy was premature, she dumped the boy in a nearby cow dung pit.

Masuri’s husband Hindu Singh, who works in Kerala, returned home today and heard about the incident. He then informed the police about the incident.
Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the newborn from the pit. A case of unnatural death has been registered and the body of the newborn was been sent for an autopsy.
