Nor’wester claims 8 in Bargarh, Jharsuguda

Bhubaneswar: The nor’wester that hit two western Odisha districts Bargarh and Jharsuguda on early Sundayclaimed at least eight lives and with two more people still missing caught in the storm, the toll going further up can’t be ruled out, revealed sources.

Among the eight killed were six from the fishing community including two women, who died in separate boat mishaps in Hirakud reservoir. Those killed due to the nor’wester were – Poornima Mallick, Hemakanti Dhurua, Tejrajo Kalo and his son Bibhuti, Jagannath Dharua, Khusiram Sa and an eight-year-old child Bibek Seth. With few more people still missing the death toll is likely to go up, official sources revealed.
