Probe en masse absence of poll officials in Kendrapara, BJP urges EC

Bhubaneswar:  BJP legislature party leader Jaynarayan Mishra on Friday echoed voice of party’s Mahakalpara Assembly seat aspirant and former minister Bijay Mohapatra, as he demanded a probe into the poll irregularities in Kendrapara district.

Mishra informed he has already urged the Election Commission to probe why nearly 109 polling officials did not join the election duty and why the district collector had to issue non bailable warrants (NBWs) against them. So many poll officials sipping election duty certainly sparks a suspicion.

He even demanded that all the strong rooms where EVMs have been stored must be kept under close circuit camera surveillance round the clock.

Reacting on the Mahakalpara issue, Mishra stated it is worth probing why 40 EVMs were not deposited by Marshaghai BDO on Thursday to be kept in the strong room. Since he kept the EVMs with him, it is only natural that anyone would suspect that they were tampered with, the BJP leader added.
