Speaker fixes Feb 12 as ‘no trust’ date

Bhubaneswar:  The two major opposition parties in Odisha Assembly – Congress and BJP are likely to launch a combined attack on the BJD government on February 12, when the House takes up the no-confidence motion.

With the final session of the 14th Assembly in progress, the discussion is like to be the last stormy show in the House before the parties take on each other for the polls. Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat on Wednesday announced that the Congress-moved no trust motion would be taken up for discussion on February 12 after the Question Hour.

Earlier, after the Congress served the no confidence notice, the BJP too announced on Tuesday that it would  support the motion. Though the opposition has already been teased by the ruling party reminding them of their combined strength in House, but the two arch rivals in national politics (Congress and BJP) would be eager to corner the BJD government.  Though it is sure the trust vote would be defeated on the floor of the House, but the opposition would be eager to target the treasury bench with a volley of accusations for the last time in 14th Assembly before the polls, feel political observers.
