Ethopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2019 by the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Friday.
The Chairperson of the five-member Norwegian Nobel Committee, Berit Reiss-Andersen said, the Ethopian PM Ahmed Ali was conferred for the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in resolving conflict with Eritrea within months of helming as the Prime Minister in 2018.
The border tension between Ethopia and Eritrea has remained hostile since 1998 and was settled by PM Ali in 2018.
The Nobel Committee further added, the prize stands as recognition to all stakeholders working for peace in Ethopia.
The Nobel Award will be presented in Oslo on December 10.
