Pakistan Investigating Agency Moves Court to Scrap Bail against Mumbai 26/11 Mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi

The bail plea of 26/11 Mumbai bomb blast conspirator Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi has been opposed by the Pakistan Federal Investigation agency (FIA) after it moved a petition in this regard to the Islamabad High Court.

Lakhvi, the Lashkar-e-Taiba operations commander had been granted bail in April 2015. Six of his associates have been held in the high security Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, while their trial is running for almost a decade.

Earlier this year, the Islamabad HC had adjourned the court’s proceedings following the petition of FIA which asked for more witnesses regarding this case.

Earlier, former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif and current PM Imran Khan have admitted the culprits belonged to Pakistan and justice to be prevailed in this matter.

However, India has always said, the neighbouring country has “shown little sincerity in bringing the perpetrators to justice.”
