Unidentified extremists wearing uniforms of paramilitary Frontier Corps gunned down 14 passengers of five to six buses travelling between Karachi and Gwadar in Pakistan on Thursday.
Around 15 to 20 militants alighted the passengers from the buses which were stopped on the Makran Coastal Highway at Ormara area in in Balochistan province.
The militants checked the identity cards of around 40 passengers before offloading 16 of them from the buses.
The 16 passengers on the ground were shot down while 2 among them managed to flee.
Balochistan Inspector General of Police said, “A total of 16 people were offloaded and 14 killed while 2 managed to escape.”
Balochistan Home Minister Zia Langove said, “One navy and one coast guard personnel were among those killed.”
Meanwhile, a probe is underway and the Prime Minister’s Office in Pakistan has ordered for a detailed report in this matter.
President Arif Alvi has lambasted the attack as “cowardly terrorist attack.”
