The much awaited decision which had been on hold by lone country China since March 13 at the UNSC committee after the United States pushed a resolution along with United Kingdom and France to put pressure on China who had been negating the decision for the past 10 years.
Mike Pompeo said on the Committee’s judgement, “Congrats to our team @USUN for their work in negotiating JEM’s Masood Azhar #UN designation as a terrorist.”
The US state secretary added, “This long-awaited action is a victory for American diplomacy and the international community against terrorism, and an important step towards peace in South Asia.”
