Bhubaneswar: Barely minutes after state BJP unit spokesperson and senior leader Golak Mohapatra raised several question marks over the role of Ganjam SP Ashish Singh and challenged to make his Call Details Record (CDR) public in connection with Chhatrapur BJD Councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan’s ’s murder case, the ruling BJD addressed a press conference and hit back at the saffron party today.
BJD spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Deb flanked by another spokesperson Sasmit Patra questioned who had facilitated the staying of the two key conspirators at Dehra Dun in Uttarakhand and urged Golak Mohapatra to clarify whether he was in touch with the accused persons in the murder case or not.
“Could Golak Mohapatra clarify who had booked the Room No 204 in Uttarakhand State Guest House for the key conspirators in the BJD Councillor’s murder case?,” Pratap Deb asked.
“When the law is taking its own course why the name of Ganjam SP is unnecessarily being dragged into the matter,” he asked.
Earlier in the day, the BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra in a press conference accused that the alleged CDR was an orchestrated political vendetta to sully his image and an attempt to check the growing popularity of the BJP in Ganjam district.
He also questioned the role of Ganjam SP in this regard and said the SP was doing all this to satisfy his political bosses at the helm of affairs in the state. “The Ganjam SP is acting as the district unit president of the BJD,” he said.
According to the alleged CDR, the BJP leader had several telephonic conversations with Krushna Chandra Nayak, Ganjam district unit secretary of the BJP and one of the two conspirators arrested in connection with the murder of Chhatrapur Councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan. The call details of Golak Mohapatra’s number showed that had received calls from Krushna Chandra Nayak’s number between September 15 and October 22.
