Dussehra Gift: Naveen Announces 7th Pay Commission Pay Hike from September

Bhubaneswar: Ending all sorts of speculations to rest and providing a hefty Dussehra bonanza, the Odisha government today announced to implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission for its serving and retired employees.

“My government has decided to implement the recommendations of the committee constituted for examination of 7th Central Pay Commission report and its adoption for the state government employees,” said Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

“About 4.5 lakh serving state government employees and 3.5 lakh retired state government employees will get enhanced emoluments and higher pensions respectively,” Naveen added.
Naveen further said that an annual additional expenditure on account of the implementation of the award would be around Rs 4,500 crores.

Government employees will get the enhanced pay hike from September 1, 2017.

However, the government has not made it clear whether it would bring the implementation into effect from September 1, 2017 or January 1, 2016 as demanded by the government employees.
