New Delhi & Bhubaneswar: The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED), a PSU under Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs, and Amazon have inked a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) to promote and sell tribal products through the online marketplace.

Highlighting the objective of the MOU, the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram said that tribal products need to catchup with e-commerce to spread in the country.

“This will provide Institutional support to marketing initiatives as TRIFED formally signed an MOU with Amazon for sale of tribal products through leading e-commerce giant,” Jual said.

As a part of the MOU, exquisite authentic tribal art and craft items crafted and sculpted by tribal artisans from all over the country will be showcased on the online portal.

Jual Oram said that after minerals, minor forest produces (MFP) can be the largest source of generation of revenue.

TRIFED is targeting sales Rs 100 crore for the financial year 2018.
