Puri: The Puri district police today formed a special team headed by an official of the rank of a sub-inspector to investigate into the alleged molestation of a girl by a policeman inside the Gundicha temple during ‘sandhya darshan’ yesterday.
A case was registered in this regard at Kumbharpada police station following SP Sarthak Sarangi’s strict order. The team comprising some women officials will start the investigation from the spot where the incident had allegedly occurred.
The state home department has asked the SP to monitor and supervise the case personally as the incident has soiled the image of the khaki personnel in the state.
The victimized girl through a Facebook posting has alleged that the concerned policeman taking advantage of the crowd inside the temple continued to touch private parts of several women. Strangely lady police personnel present on duty also did not dissuade the policeman from doing so.
The complainant has also tagged her post to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
