Helmet Wearing Now Compulsory For Pillion Riders

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has made helmet wearing mandatory for pillion riders on two-wheelers.

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today announced details about the new regulations through video conferencing at the state secretariat here. Pillion riders not wearing helmets will be fined.

As per reports, police stations across the state will be given the MVI power under which police officials of ASI rank and above can penalise the violators and cancel their driving licenses, informed the Chief Secretary.

The move comes after the increasing number of fatal road accidents in the state.
