Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has turned 68 on Wednesday. It’s quite normal that the city of Chennai, AIADMK to be precise, will commend the pioneer’s birthday with much fanfare. Despite the fact that their Jaya Amma is unlikely to show up on his birthday day, the advertisement everywhere throughout the city claimed that the day is recognized with loftiness.
Special pooja has been planned in 122 temples where priests will offer prayers wishing long life for Jayalalithaa who is affectionately called Amma or mother by her followers. The prayer will also be made for her return as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in the Assembly elections due this year.
According to information reaching here, Chennai Mayor Saidai Sa. Duraisamy is providing free meals at the city’s Amma canteens — low cost eateries patronised by the chief minister. The corporation has also pledged to deposit Rs 10,000 for each girl child born today in the hospitals run by it.
