Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued lightning and thunderstorm warning for 20 districts in Odisha.

As per a bulletin of the regional meteorological centre here, thunderstorm and lightning are likely to occur in Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Boudh, Puri, Khorda, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul districts.

The alert would remain in effect till 6.30 pm, the IMD bulletin issued by its Regional Centre here this afternoon said.

It has advised people in these 20 districts to remain indoors during this period and move to safer  locations like concrete houses to avoid any untoward incident.
